Songstress, Keyshia Cole is in the studio working on her new album. There’s no title or tracklist as of yet but fans have been asking for it and the R& B singer says it is on thee way. This will be her 8th studio album. This week, Ray J took to his social media and teased fans with a collaboration snippet with the Oakland native. We cannot wait until this project drops. We are sure it will be JUICY.
Killer Mike is making some big waves in the news this week. The grammy-award winner will be the first recipient of the Change Maker Award at this years 2020 Billboard Music Awards. The award will be presented by the mayor of Atlanta, Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. and the show will be hosted by Kelly Clarkson.
Many of you know the Atlanta native from his features on Outkast’s album or from his duo with Run the Jewels. Mike won his Grammy from his feature on Outkast’s hit song , “The Whole World“. Not only is Killer Mike a rapper, he is a social-political activist.
The rapper has used his public platform to speak out against social issues, specifically: police brutality, inequality in Black communities and race relations. In addition to his fight for social justice, he also has partnered with his friend, Ryan Glover to create Greenwood.
Greenwood is a new digital bank, that is owned and operated by majority Black and Latino. Their sole mission is to provide banking for communities that are interested in supporting Black-owned businesses. They will specialize in financing Black and Latino entrepreneurs that may face issues obtaining loans from conglomerate bank companies.
Daystar Peterson, better know as Tory Lanez has been charged for the Megan Thee Stallion shooting. The world has been trying to figure out what really happened that night between the two superstars. The Canadian native is being charged with: one count of assault with a semiautomatic gun and one count of carrying an unregistered loaded firearm.
Since the shooting, Megan Thee Stallion broke her silence after some time passed and she flat out stated that Tory shot her and his team was covering it up for him by lying to the public. The entire time Lanez kept quiet until a couple of weeks ago, when he tweeted for the first time announcing he was. going to finally speak out. Lanez technically didn’t speak out but instead released a mixtape that he stated told the truths about how he felt and what happened that night. Many former fans and current fans were upset with the timing of the release, because of the need to focus on the Breonna Taylor trial. However, the rapper/singer stated that the release date was set because of the significance of that date to him. We agreed it was not the time during this social climate.
Since July, fans have been in a frenzy picking sides. and commenting all over social media platforms but hopefully, this case will bring the real story and the truth to the light. If convicted, Lanez will face up to 22 years and 8 months in prison.
R&B Heartthrob, Trey Songz is back. His new album, Back Home is dropping in 3 days. He has been teasing fans on social media all week, posting the 22 song track-list and some new photos. The album features some great collaborations that fans should look out for. Can’t wait to hear this album, it’s what the people have been waiting for.
In other news, Songz, recently, revealed to the world the he tested positive for COVID-19. He utilized his social media platforms to bring more awareness to the seriousness of the virus. Great job using your voice for the greater good. Everyone practice social distancing, wear a mask and be kind. Miss Kai’s Juice would like to send prayers out to Trey and we hope he has a speedy recovery.
While some of you may have been sleeping, Saturday Night Live aired their 46th season. The show was hosted by Chris Rock and included fresh new skits and some new faces. Life as we know it has changed drastically since COVID-19, but SNL was there to relieve some of that stress that may have been building up. One of the highlights of the night was Alec Baldwin and Jim Carrey’s sketch reenacting the disastrous Presidential debate that occurred earlier this week. Chris Rock was joined by musical guest, Megan Thee Stallion.
The rapper had a powerful message to send about black women being the most disrespected and unprotected person in the world. In addition, she emphasized how important it is to protect black women and protect black men. Touching on the ongoing senseless violence against black men in America.
Something that caught many eyes in one of Megan’s performances was the visual of bleeding gunshots in the backdrop. This clearly was in reference to Megan Thee Stallion becoming a gun violence survivor back in August. While the jury is still out on that case, the message was still very much truthful and needs to be heard on a national platform regularly until changes occur.
Saturday Night Live has announced that the next two episodes will be hosted by Insecure’s Issa Rae and comedian Bill Burr.
The Houston Hottie is back with a new song and video. Megan Thee Stallion has a hot new single featuring Young Thug, “Don’t Stop”. Her social media images teased an Alice in Wonderland theme video, the video is fun, whimsical and creative. The rapper portrays characters like the Cheshire Cat, the Queen of Hearts and of course, Alice herself. The video can be found on YouTube.
