The Honorable David Dinkins, the first and only African American mayor to serve in New York City has died at the age of 93. Dinkins passed away at his Manhattan home on Monday evening. According to the New York Police Department, an EMT call was made from the residence reporting an unconscious male with breathing complications. The New Jersey Native, served as the mayor from 1990 to 1993. He attended Howard University where he met his late wife Joyce, who passed away back in October.
During his time in public office the former mayor’ fought largely for the improvement with race relations in the city. Dinkins was a leader for the African American community in New York. He fought alongside other civil rights leaders in the New York political circuit. Dinkins made impacts on issues like affordable housing, healthcare directly affecting HIV/AIDS services, due to the crisis at that time, as well as crime rates in the city.
Following his role as mayor, he began teaching at Columbia University in 1994. In later years, you could even find the late mayor walking around the streets of Harlem. Dinkins leaves behind two children and two grandchildren. A true pioneer, David Dinkins will be missed by many.
Bobby Brown Jr., son of R & B sensation Bobby Brown was found dead in his Encino, California residence. Police spokesman said, shortly before 2 pm on November 17,2020, authorities were contacted for a medical emergency. So far the reports indicate no foul play as the cause of death and an official autopsy has not been released at this time. The Los Angeles County coroner is heading the investigation. Brown. Jr was only 28 years old.
This is another tragic loss Bobby Sr. has experienced in the past several years. Sadly, he lost his ex-wife, the late great Whitney Houston, followed shortly thereafter by their beloved daughter Bobbi Kristina.

New York City weatherman and TODAY show co-host, Al Roker shared with the world on the show that he has prostate cancer. Roker also stated that he will be having the necessary surgery to remove his prostate.
Roker utilized his public platform to announce his recent diagnosis because of the high rate of African-American men and men in general who will and have been diagnosed with the cancer. He highlighted that 1 in 7 African-American men will get the disease and an overall of 1 in 9 men will get prostate cancer. In addition to statistics, he stressed the importance of regularly going to the doctor’s for check ups, especially black men. This little task, is why Roker was able to detect the cancer early enough to treat and remove.
According to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, black men should begin getting prostate cancer screens starting at age 40. Al Roker, is 66 years old and will be undergoing surgery in New York City at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center next week. We wish him a healthy and speedy recovery.
Alex Trebek has passed away at the age of 80, from a long battle against stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Many of you may be familiar with the legendary television host from the popular prime time game show Jeopardy. Trebek became the host of the show in 1984 and he has been in American households ever since.
Trebek hosted over 8,000 episodes of the popular quiz show. In an interview a couple of years ago, Alex suggested two potential replacements for him when the. time came, NBA announcer, Alex Faust and CNN legal analyst, Laura Coates. Jeopardy will never be the same without his witty jokes and comments.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will serve as the next President and Vice President of the United Stated of America. The Biden-Harris campaign earned 290 electoral votes versus 214 electoral votes racked in by the current President Trump and Vice President Pence, according to the Associated Press. The campaign was successful in flipping multiple states.
Biden is returning to the White House and he is bringing the first female, first African American woman and first Indian person elected to be the Vice President. This is a major historical moment for both. Congratulations. We can’t wait see what this. team will do for the people of the United States. America has spoken.
Earlier today R & B Singer/Songwriter, Summer Walker took to her Instagram and shared a picture with the legend herself, Erykah Badu with a heartfelt caption. A collaboration between these two would be amazing. But fans seem to think that the artist was not there on business but for a personal matter.
Ms. Badu was not the only one home when Summer came over. Erykah’s daughter Puma was there and she is a huge Summer Walker fan. The young star in the making posted a video montage about Walker being in her house. Super excited, Puma may have just revealed a baby bump. Followers were speculating that Summer was there to discuss Erykah being her midwife.
Previously fans made the same speculations when Walker explained that she wasn’t and showed fans in a video. We are not one for rumors so we will be keeping a close eye on what’s the real. Only time will tell.
